Sense of Space was formed in 2003 by Richard Addenbrook and Iain Gibbons with the aim of providing high quality design solutions to many different sectors throughout the UK.

Richard Addenbrook is a Chartered Architect with over 30 years of quality experience in a broad array of projects. He has received awards for his work and has held senior management positions in two well known architectural practices. Richard offers a unique combination of design, technical and administrative expertise and has a keen interest in environmental issues, with extensive experience in construction physics. He acts as an expert witness in construction-related litigation including the undertaking of building “health checks” and remedial works.
Richard has completed substantial projects for major clients including Next plc, Ventura Customer Services Management, William Morrisons Supermarkets plc and Halifax plc. His refurbishment of the Westbank building in Leeds for Halifax Direct to provide 150,000 square feet of office space was awarded as European Call Centre of the Year and received an RIBA White Rose Award for Architecture. Further successes include Civic Society Awards in 2007 and 2011, a Bradford District Design Award in 2007 and Yorkshire Finalist in the prestigious RIBA Awards in 2011.
In recent years, Richard has led Sense of Space to develop an expertise in sustainable construction and the practice is well known for its work in this field.

Iain Gibbons is a design-led building Surveyor and Architectural Technologist with more than 30 years experience in a wide variety of projects.
He has fulfilled a primary role as Project Surveyor / Architectural Technologist on all building types from Educational to Historic Buildings with considerable experience also on a domestic scale. Iain is proficient in all aspects of procurement from inception to completion with an avid interest in environmental design issues.
