Sense of Space have completed initital feasibility proposals for a new 6FE Secondary Free School in North London
The scheme will form part of a framework Invitation to Tender and Sense of Space will provide a Technical Advisor role to the clients as the full design is developed.
Work has been completed on the conversion of the Grade II Listed Broadfield House in Crawley into an Educational Care facility on behalf of the TBAP Trust, providing residential schooling for vulnerable young people who are on the edge of care.
Funded by the DfE Social Innovations Fund, the TBAP Residence opened to its first group of students in December 2015 whilst construction work continued alongside. More information regarding the Residence and the work of TBAP can be found on the TBAP RESIDENCE WEBSITE
Conversion of an existing external courtyard space into a multi-function facility for lunchtime activities, meetings, presentations and occasional teaching.
Sense of Space have provided the detailed architectural design for the refurbishment and conversion of an existing office building into a new Primary School. Work has commenced on site in Twickenham and is due to be completed for full occupation by the school in September.
Planning Approval has been granted by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for a rooftop extension to a six storey school, located in Whitechapel. In considering our application, Planning Officers described it as "a bold design they are happy to support".
Our proposals include the addition of a new school hall for assembly and sport, together with a gymnasium and changing rooms. The design also incorporates a rooftop garden with a vertical living wall.

We understand that the cost of retaining an award-winning Architect for the duration of a house extension project can be prohibitive.
This is why we have introduced our new "Design-Only" service for house extensions, allowing our customers to benefit from our design expertise without the ongoing cost of a full architectural service.

We have obtained Planning Approval for the redevelopment of existing playing fields on the A65 Coutances Way on behalf of Ilkley Town Football Club, Ilkley Harriers and Ilkley Grammar School.
The new development will include a state of the art 3G all-weather football pitch and compact athletics facility, enhancing the sports offering in the Wharfe Valley to young and old. Whilst existing grass pitches will be retained alongside, the addition of an all-weather pitch will more than double the existing playing capacity and provide the foundations for a football academy.
We are pleased to have been invited by Ilkley Civic Society to present on the occasion of their annual awards ceremony in March 2013.
Ilkley Civic Society has granted Design Award Commendations to two Sense of Space projects: Ben Rhydding Scout and Guide Headquarters and Thalassa, an Arts and Crafts house in the Conservation Area.
The work to Thalassa required the removal of some incongruous former additions and their replacement with new extensions which reflect the Arts and Crafts nature of the original house. These latest awards follow on from previous Civic Society Awards for 5 St James Road in 2006 and Apple Hayes in 2011.
In 2012, we obtained Planning Approval for three country house hotel projects within the Yorkshire Dales including work to the Grade II Listed Austwick Hall, Winterburn Manor and Hartrigg House.
Each application threw up its own challenge, not least the complexity associated with obtaining Planning Approval for any project within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
At Austwick Hall we gained approval for the conversion of former outbuildings to the rear of the property, linking them back to the main house with new common areas for the use of guests, whilst also improving the functionality for the building's owners.
At both Winterburn Manor and Hartrigg House, we have obtained approval for the change of use of these two existing dwellings into guest accommodation, creating common areas, ensuites to all bedrooms and separate family suites.
The recently completed project is featured on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/senseofspacearchitects and has attracted lots of positive comments including:
The work has included a six metre deep excavation to create a sunken garden, indoor swimming pool and cinema room below ground. This challenging project has been designed to meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. For further details including images, please click here
Complete renovation of a tired-looking 60's home comprising three new extensions, full internal alterations and overcladding of existing elements to achieve a fully integrated solution. The project can be seen on the Express Doors website:
Full Planning Approval was granted in late 2013 - in granting approval, Kirklees Councillors and Planning Officers described the proposal as
"an excellent scheme".
Working closely with Savills Planning Consultancy, Sense of Space led the masterplanning and detailed design process for the new development to create an expanding visitor attraction, following a devastating fire in 2010 which destroyed much of the existing farm. MORE
The new extension will create a haven for tourists and walkers who wish to escape from the notorious moorland weather whilst still being able to enjoy a view of the iconic rocks, the Wharfe Valley and the town of Ilkley.
Planning Approval once again proved to be challenging as the site is protected by numerous layers of legislation but we believe that the outcome with serve to benefit the whole community by providing services which have been previously lacking.
Construction work will start shortly on a redevelopment of 44 The Grove in Ilkley into new apartments and the refurbishment of a retail outlet with the existing tenant, Travelwise, remaining in occupation. Two new apartments will be created with separate access from Back Grove Road.
Initial enquiries can be made via Sense of Space.
Previously we have obtained Planning Approval for the creation of two retail outlets and five incubator offices at this location.
We have now obtained Planning Approval for a small extension to the Cow and Calf Cafe which will provide much needed indoor seating.

Planning Approval and Listed Building Consent have been granted for this contemporary extension and alterations to a Grade II Listed building in Scholar Green in South Cheshire.
The design uses traditional materials in a contemporary manner, following the principles of good practice as set out by English Heritage.
